Here’s what is happening in your area for May Day this year:
The Labour Day march will assemble on the corner of Mackenzie Street and Littlefield Street at 8am on Monday, May 1 for a 9am start. Entertainment will be held next to the PCYC Blackwater on both Sunday and Monday.
The march will commence on the corner of Wharf and Turbot Streets, Spring Hill at 10am on Monday, May 1, and finish for a day-long free festival at the RNA Showgrounds – with drinks, food, music, events and rides courtesy of the ETU.
The march will assemble at the Young Aussie Hotel, on Perry Street, North Bundaberg and head towards Anzac Park from 9.30am on Saturday, April 29.
Assemble at Fogarty Park, in front of the sound shell, at 3pm on Saturday, April 29, for the march beginning at 4pm on the corner of Spence Street and Cairns Esplanade. The march will head toward Fogarty Park for the Family Fun Day.
Held on Monday, May 1, please assemble at 9.30am for a 10am start at the back of the Gladstone Regional Council car park, marching to the Gladstone Arena. We will have drinks, BBQ and entertainment, as well was the inter-union tug of war.
May Day on the Gold Coast will be held on Sunday, April 30 at the Southport Broadwater Parklands “Great Lawn”. There will be a live band, drinks, sausage sizzle and jumping castles and face painting for the kids. The march will assemble at 9.45am from the Southport Workers’ Club, 154A Scarborough Street, Southport, with a 10.30am start.
The Ipswich May Day march will be held on Saturday, April 29 at 10.30am from Ellensborough Street, Ipswich Central.
The Mackay May Day march will be held on Monday, May 1. Assembling at the corner of River and Gregory Streets at 9am, the march will begin heading to Queens Park, Goldsmith Street, at 9.45am.
The Moranbah May Day march will take place on Monday, May 1, assembling at the corner of Tallon Street and Mills Avenue at 10am for a 10.30am start. The march will head to Ted Rolfe Oval, on the corner of Mills Avenue and Appleton Street, for a family fun day.
The May Day event will start on Sunday, April 30, at the Maryborough Memorial Bowls Club, 220 Lennox Street, from 10.30am.
The Darwin May Day march starts at 3.30pm on Monday, May 1. Gathering at 38 Woods Street, Darwin, from 3pm a free community concert will be held after the march in Bicentennial Park. There’ll be live music, food and drinks, as well as a children’s area with games and activities.
The Rocky May Day march will take place on Monday May 1 from Riverside Carpark, on Archer Street, at 9am. Afterwards a sausage sizzle and free entertainment will be provided.
The Sunshine Coast May Day fun day will be held on Sunday, April 30 from 10am at Cotton Tree Park, The Esplanade, Cotton Tree.
Assembling at 10.30am on Saturday, April 29 at the Railway Carpark on the corner of Russell and Railway streets (Opposite the Irish Club), this year’s march will commence at 11am sharp. After the march there will be a family fun day with a jumping castle, a bucking bull, live music, BBQ lunch and drinks at the Irish Club.
The Townsville march will take place on Monday, May 1. Assembling at 10am at Anzac Park, the march will head towards Strand Park at 10.30am.
