The ETU will launch its periodic Operation Energise initiative on from the 18th February when crews of volunteer qualified electricians will perform electrical safety checks and remedial connections for those hit by the flooding disaster in Townsville.
The Union will be visiting the Townsville and surrounding areas to perform safety checks and connections for community groups, not for profit organisations, pensioners, uninsured residents and sole parents impacted by the flooding from 18th February to 26 February
Operation Energise has previously been mobilised after Cyclones Debbie, Larry, Oswald, Marcia and Yasi, as well as the Gap storm and the Brisbane floods.
The Co-ordinator of Operation Energise, Assistant Secretary of the ETU Keith McKenzie, said the initiative would provide hope to stricken communities, providing short-term power through the installation of GPOs and associated infrastructure into switchboards to allow power to be restored to houses prior to full-scale rebuilds.
To take advantage of this service please contact Barry on 1800 ETUYES (1800 388 937) to arrange an appointment.
